I've lived in the US my entire life. Given that I am of East Asian background myself and I am relatively worldly and well-traveled and that I could not name a single Chinese singer, I feel confident in emphatically saying that there are no Chinese singers that would be considered "known" in America, not outside the Chinese community at least. I would also say that Americans don't think anything about Chinese music because we don't think about Chinese music. The only East Asian music that has made any (very small) strides in America recently is from South Korea. I could name a few K-pop singers, like Hyori Lee, Boa, Psy, and Rain, but the average American wouldn't recognize these names either.

EDIT: Some people have brought up Jay Chou. Now that people mention it, his name does ring a slight bell. I have a Taiwanese-American friend that I now recall told me she went to see him in concert somewhere (probably Asia) This doesn't change my original answer. He and his music are not known in the US, except perhaps in the local Chinese (sinitic) communities in the US. And as for me, his name just barely rings a bell, and his work in fact is completely unknown to me.

The only singer I can think of that even maybe someone that has a passing interest in East Asian culture might know is Jay Chou, but even then, probably not. As someone who's sat in more KTVs than I can count for the better part of a decade, I ultimately have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Chinese music.

To clarify, I'm not a fan as to what passes as 'pop' music. I think traditional music sounds great. Unique instruments and pleasant sounds.

However, I think I got sick of how every song played was a similarly sounding, slow-paced ballad. Worse, just about every video was filled someone crying, dying, or staring listlessly into space. There are always exceptions, of course.

With the exception of some click miracles (such as 99 Luftballons), the only songs popular in the United States are English songs from Western countries. There are subcultures in some foreign genres (such as K-pop), and there are some more common genres of foreign language lyrics (such as metal), but Americans who like this kind of music are exceptions, not rules.

So most Americans do not know Chinese singers or Chinese music.
